While we recommend using an Iron "Master" Filter System to remove iron from you water prior to using a softener, sometimes fine mesh resin can remove a smaller amount of iron from your water. If you want to be 100% certain which product you need to purchase, contact our water professionals with a water analysis, and we'll help you find the right system/product.
Fine mesh resin for water softeners are smaller and packed tighter than regular resin, and has a larger surface area that can attach iron. Depending on the conditions, fine mesh resin can filter up to about 10 ppm of iron from water, realistically, 5 ppm.
Fine mesh resin can develop an iron slime, you will also need some resin cleaners. It happens with standard resin, but it's more frequent with fine mesh resin because it's packed tighter.
