Fine mesh resin is softer, smaller and packed tighter than regular resin, and has a larger surface area that can attach iron. Fine mesh resin can filter up to 10 ppm of iron from water depending on the conditions. The fine mesh resin can develop an "iron slime," which will need to be cleaned from time to time to allow for the maximum capacity. If your system produces little or no water softening, you should check for retained hardness on the resin and use resin cleaners.
We recommend the Iron "Master" Filter System to remove iron from your water before using a softener. Sometimes fine mesh resin can remove a smaller amount of iron from your water.
